Srinagar, March 8 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken a strong stance against the state Budget unveiled by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, labeling it a “complete failure” and accusing the National Conference (NC) government of misleading the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

BJP State Spokesperson Altaf Thakur described the state Budget as “jumla bazi” (empty rhetoric) and a breach of the commitments made during the elections.

“Where are the 12 free gas cylinders that Omar Abdullah promised? Where is the one lakh job guarantee? Where is the free ration? This Budget is a cruel joke on the people of J&K,” Thakur stated.

The BJP leader criticized the state government for providing 200 units of free electricity solely to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries, which he noted includes only 1.5 percent of J&K's population, instead of extending this benefit to everyone as promised.

“This is outright deception. Omar Abdullah came to power by making grand announcements, but his government has failed on every front. The people will not forgive this betrayal,” Thakur warned.

This political criticism from the BJP follows Omar Abdullah's presentation of his state Budget, which proposed measures such as free transport for women in government-run services and 200 units of free electricity for AAY families starting April 1.

However, the Opposition BJP is unyielding in its critique, dubbing these initiatives “too little, too late.”

“This Budget is merely a desperate attempt to mask the NC government's incompetence. People are grappling with inflation and unemployment, yet Omar Abdullah's administration is preoccupied with making empty announcements,” Thakur remarked.

State BJP Spokesperson Abhijeet Jasrotia condemned the state Budget, branding it a “bundle of lies” aimed at misleading the public. He accused the J&K government of taking undue credit for various welfare schemes that are actually initiatives from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Jasrotia highlighted that the budget speech is rife with mentions of central government programs that have significantly contributed to J&K’s development. “Instead of recognizing PM Modi’s leadership, the J&K administration is attempting to misrepresent these initiatives as its own accomplishments,” he said.

He criticized the state Budget for neglecting vital issues faced by the populace, including the challenges experienced by daily wagers, contractual employees, vocational trainers, and unemployed youth.

“There is no relief for Rehbar-e-Khel, Rehbar-e-Jaryat, and Rehbar-e-Sehat employees, nor any new job creation strategies for the educated youth of J&K,” he stated.

“The people of J&K will not be misled by false promises.”
