Srinagar, July 25 (NationPress) — On Friday, the J&K Police executed a significant operation by attaching the property valued at Rs 55 lakh belonging to a drug peddler in the Srinagar district in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
“In a crucial effort to tackle the pervasive drug issue and dismantle the networks facilitating narcotics trafficking, the Srinagar Police has confiscated a residential property estimated to be worth around Rs 55 lakh under the NDPS Act,” stated the police in an official announcement.
The confiscated property consists of a two-storey residential house built on 13.5 marlas of land, identified by khasra No. 2865, that belongs to Khazir Mohammad Tiploo, son of the late Abdul Ahad Tiploo, a resident of Dawood Colony Anchaar, Srinagar.
“This action is part of case FIR No. 85/2024 U/S 8/20, 21, 22 of the NDPS Act from the Police Station Soura. The son of the property owner, Hilal Ahmad Tiploo, who lives in Dawood Colony, Anchaar, Soura, Srinagar, has been implicated in this case. He is recognized as a notorious drug peddler with a history of drug-related offenses,” the statement added.
In late June, the Srinagar Police had similarly attached two properties belonging to drug peddlers, valued at Rs 1 crore and Rs 50 lakh, respectively.
Both the security forces and J&K Police are actively engaged in rigorous operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), sympathizers, and drug traffickers.
