Patna, April 4 (NationPress) Following the resignation of three leaders from the JD(U) in response to its endorsement of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill-2025, party spokesperson Neeraj Kumar remarked that their actions represent insignificant political noise since "those who have stepped down lack a robust voter base".
"This is merely unimportant gossip," Kumar stated to IANS.
"They possess no individual significance. They receive 399 votes yet label themselves as leaders with a mass following," stated Kumar, directing his comments towards Mohammad Kasim Ansari, Mohammad Shahnawaz Malik, and Mohammad Tabrez Aleeg, who have departed from JD(U).
Kumar emphasized that Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar has consistently advanced the development and safeguarding of minority rights.
"The Nitish Kumar administration has enclosed temples and graveyards, a task that should have been undertaken by the mutts and Waqf Board, respectively," Kumar noted.
He recalled that the Anjuman Islamia Hall fell into disrepair during the leadership of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, but CM Nitish transformed it into a 'sheesh mahal' (glass palace).
Kumar asserted that minorities support CM Nitish, claiming: "The quality of life for minority community members is improving, and their living standards are elevating under his guidance."
"There is no cause for concern with CM Nitish in charge. His achievements speak for themselves," he praised.
After the Bill was approved by Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended it as a move towards 'socio-economic justice' and 'transparency'.
BJP leaders contend that it will prevent the 'misuse' of Waqf land, assist impoverished and backward Muslims—particularly Pasmandas—and enhance accountability in managing Waqf properties.
Conversely, opposition factions and Muslim leaders perceive the bill as a frontal assault on minority rights, accusing it of being a mechanism to appropriate Waqf lands and further marginalize the community under the pretense of reform.
