Patna, May 28 (NationPress) RJD Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Kumar Jha has criticized BJP MP Nishikant Dubey for his comments regarding former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the Congress party. He accused Dubey of having a selective perspective and of relying on WhatsApp knowledge concerning significant historical foreign policy issues.
Jha challenged Dubey's silence regarding former US President Donald Trump’s statements about mediating between India and Pakistan.
Dubey had previously targeted Rajiv Gandhi by sharing a letter from former US President Ronald Reagan, suggesting that the late Prime Minister sought American mediation with Pakistan, which contradicts the principles outlined in the 1972 Shimla Agreement. This agreement states that all disputes between India and Pakistan should be resolved through bilateral talks.
“Being a Gandhi is not easy,” Dubey remarked while sharing the letter on social media. “This letter is a reply from US President Ronald Reagan to Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. According to the 1972 Shimla Agreement, all disputes between India and Pakistan were to be resolved bilaterally, without third-party mediation. So, why did Rajiv Gandhi ask the United States for assistance in facilitating discussions with Pakistan?”
Dubey also highlighted Reagan's comments in the letter, which reflected the US's interest in fostering peace in the region and its willingness to assist both nations in reducing tensions.
In response, Jha sharply stated, “I do not wish to elaborate on his incomplete WhatsApp knowledge. He must understand that if we delve deeper, many truths will emerge. Why hasn’t he addressed US President Trump’s claims of mediating a ceasefire, especially when Nishikant Dubey was aware that Pakistan's DGMO pleaded with India to cease military actions?”
“He should have informed the American President that he has no authority to comment on Indo-Pak matters. However, he lacks the courage. I recognize that,” he told IANS.
Jha was referring to Trump's assertion that his administration facilitated mediation between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.
Jha further criticized the decision to include Nishikant Dubey in India's global outreach initiative under Operation Sindoor, which aims to underscore New Delhi's position on terrorism and its dedication to peace.
“Even with his name included in the delegations for Operation Sindoor Outreach, I wanted to ask the Prime Minister if he is planning a goodwill mission or a damage mission. He (Nishikant Dubey) is behaving like an adversary. Now it is the Prime Minister’s responsibility to consider why he (Nishikant Dubey) is part of his 'Navratna' (valuable members),” Jha remarked.
The RJD leader also took a jab at Dubey's comments on secularism, labeling him a hypocrite.
“Nishikant Dubey discussing secularism demonstrates his double standards. Yes, India is secular, despite individuals like Dubey,” Jha concluded.
