Jammu, Jan 3 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, on Saturday, revealed the poster for an awareness film entitled ‘The Last Dose’, which addresses the pressing issue of drug abuse at Lok Bhawan.
The film has been produced by Khwaish Gupta Productions.
A statement from Lok Bhawan indicated that the Lt Governor extended his congratulations to the entire production team and expressed his good wishes towards their endeavor.
Present at the poster unveiling were Khwaish Gupta, the Founder of Khwaish Gupta Productions; Shivdeep Gupta and Priya Gupta, the film's Producers, along with other team members.
Earlier in the day, the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir underscored drug abuse as a significant challenge facing Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement to reporters in Srinagar, the Divisional Commissioner characterized drug addiction as a serious social concern that J&K is grappling with today.
He noted that the issue has escalated significantly, tripling in the last three and a half years, which is quite alarming.
The Divisional Commissioner mentioned that the government is enhancing its anti-drug awareness initiatives by involving all stakeholders, including religious leaders.
“A major awareness campaign is currently underway in J&K, with the Chief Secretary personally overseeing it,” he stated.
He added that the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) is organizing extensive programs to train counselors across health and educational institutions.
Five-day training sessions are being conducted to establish a robust network for early intervention and prevention.
He emphasized that all segments of society are participating in this initiative, and religious leaders from Srinagar are being engaged to educate the public about this issue.
The helpline numbers of IMHANS are being widely distributed to assist individuals seeking help.
The Government Psychiatric Diseases Hospital in Srinagar comprises two facilities: a 100-bedded Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) located at Rainawari, and a 30-bedded Community General Hospital Unit within the SMHS premises.
This hospital offers diagnostic services that include routine hematology, biochemistry, serum electrolytes, serology, EEG, and ECT.
