New Delhi, May 13 (NationPress) Urging the youth to channel their passion for patriotism, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Professor Mazhar Asif on Tuesday inaugurated a Tiranga March as part of an initiative promoting Nation First. This campaign, named ‘Rashtra Pratham – A Campaign in Support of Nation First,’ was initiated by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Higher Education Institutions.

The march stands as a testament to the unwavering allegiance of the JMI community towards the Indian Armed Forces, the Government of India, and national security efforts, as noted in an official statement.

Leading the march from the impressive Centenary Gate of JMI to the Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW) lawns, Prof. Mazhar Asif and Prof. Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi (Registrar) emphasized the significance of this event.

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his decisive leadership, under which our armed forces and national security bodies have effectively countered terrorism, the VC remarked, "JMI pays tribute to the Indian Armed Forces for their remarkable bravery and resolve in defending our borders and ensuring national security.”

He further stated, “The Tiranga March is organized today to honor our courageous soldiers and appreciate the resilience shown by the Government of India since the initiation of Operation Sindoor. Ultimately, we are gathered here to vow to prioritize our nation above all.”

On this occasion, Prof. Rizvi mentioned, "Operation Sindoor symbolizes not only the bravery of our Armed Forces but also an impressive display of every Indian's unwavering support and love for our country.”

He added, “The collective support from the nation for the Government and our security forces is commendable. JMI was one of the first central universities to strongly condemn the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, paying tribute to the victims by planting 26 trees in their memory.”
