Patna, Oct 31 (NationPress) The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has unveiled its joint manifesto, the ‘Sankalp Patra’, in Patna ahead of the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
The launch event at Hotel Maurya showcased the alliance's key figures, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, BJP national president J.P. Nadda, LJPRV chief Chirag Paswan, HAM patron Jitan Ram Manjhi, and RLM president Upendra Kushwaha, signifying their united front.
This 69-page manifesto presents 24 commitments made by the NDA coalition.
Following the release, senior leaders Nitish Kumar, J.P. Nadda, Chirag Paswan, and Jitan Ram Manjhi headed out for campaign activities, while Samrat Choudhary addressed media inquiries.
He stressed that the ‘Sankalp Patra’ represents more than just a list of promises; it is a commitment of trust aimed at elevating Bihar from its current state of underdevelopment to a phase of rapid progress.
The NDA's manifesto launch comes shortly after the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) presented its own vision document on October 28, spearheaded by Tejashwi Yadav.
The NDA plans to compete for all 243 seats and has established its seat-sharing agreement: BJP (101 seats), JD(U) (101), LJP (Ram Vilas) (29), HAM (6), and RLM (6).
Characterized as a blueprint for a “Developed Bihar”, the manifesto addresses key areas such as employment, women's empowerment, agriculture, infrastructure, and social welfare.
Employment & Economy:
The NDA has pledged to create over one crore jobs and employment opportunities within five years, initiate the Developed Bihar Industrial Mission with a Rs one lakh crore investment, and establish factories in every district along with 10 new industrial parks and advanced projects in IT, semiconductors, and defense corridors.
It aims to attract Rs 50 lakh crore in investments to position Bihar as a global back-end hub and a center for a new-age economy.
Women's Empowerment:
According to Samrat Choudhary, NDA leaders have committed to transforming one crore women into Lakhpati Didis, offering financial support of up to Rs two lakh for women entrepreneurs, and launching Mission Crorepati to boost women’s entrepreneurship.
Education Sector:
The manifesto details the NDA's educational aspirations, including provisions for free education from KG to PG for underprivileged children, the establishment of model and residential schools, and modern skill labs in every district.
Farmers and Rural Development:
Choudhary noted that upon forming the government after November 14, the NDA would introduce the Karpoori Thakur Kisan Samman Nidhi, extend annual payments of Rs 9,000 to farmers (Rs 3,000 per installment), guarantee MSP for all crops, and invest Rs one lakh crore in agricultural infrastructure, alongside enhancing fisheries and dairy missions for rural advancement.
Social Justice & Welfare:
The NDA has promised Rs 10 lakh in financial assistance for EBC communities, including Tanti, Nishad, Kewat, Bind, Nonia, Mallah, Teli, Kumhar, and Lohar. A high-level committee led by a retired Supreme Court judge will evaluate their socio-economic conditions.
The NDA also guarantees five key provisions for Bihar's impoverished citizens, which include 5 kg of free ration, 125 units of free electricity per household, free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh, 50 lakh pucca houses, and a social security pension for all eligible individuals.
Infrastructure and Transport:
The manifesto outlines plans for launching metro services in Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, and Bhagalpur within five years, and creating a flood resilience board for disaster-prone regions, which will incorporate water conservation and fisheries.
Culture and Faith:
The NDA leadership has vowed to develop the Maa Janaki Temple into a top-tier spiritual destination, establish a new Sitapuram Spiritual City in Sitamarhi, and create the Sharda Sinha Art and Cultural University along with a Bihar Film City.
