Bengaluru, Nov 6 (NationPress) The Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, stating the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha is well aware of his impending defeat in Bihar, where Congress is only contesting 61 seats.
During a press briefing at the BJP state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan in Bengaluru, Joshi remarked: "I recently traveled to Bihar. Congress is aiming for 61 seats. A person inquired, ‘How can Rahul Gandhi assert that victory is certain when they’re only fielding candidates in 61 seats?’ Previously, they targeted 71 seats and secured only 19. In the Mahagathbandhan manifesto, Rahul Gandhi’s photo is smaller than a red 4-anna stamp.”
“It’s genuinely unfortunate that the Leader of the Opposition has turned into a source of ridicule. A responsible opposition leader should exhibit wisdom and maturity. Instead, Rahul Gandhi disrespects the public by refusing to accept their judgment,” Joshi charged.
Addressing Rahul Gandhi's recent allegations of voter fraud, Joshi stated: “Rahul Gandhi is yet again raising the issue of voter fraud. The woman he mentioned has clarified that she is neither from Brazil nor Colombia -- she stated she is from here and voted under her real name. This highlights how naive Rahul Gandhi and his team are.”
“What he claimed regarding Aland has crumbled,” Joshi continued, noting that Gandhi constantly shifts his blame. “Initially, he blamed the EVMs, followed by the Election Commission, and now he speaks of voter fraud. Next, he might claim that we were destined to rule, and they stole our government,” he added sarcastically.
“He needs to cease blaming the populace for his losses,” Joshi asserted. “Now he’s discussing Haryana a year post-election. Following Haryana, elections occurred in Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, and Maharashtra. If this trend continues, he’ll next mention Jharkhand, then J&K, then Maharashtra, and eventually Bihar. His delayed responses resemble a tube light — that’s quite a problem,” he quipped.
Focusing on the Karnataka government, Joshi remarked that Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s recent comments indicated “signs of insecurity.” “Every morning, the Chief Minister asserts he’s the CM, and each minister expresses their thoughts without restraint. The governmental administrative system is in disarray,” he accused.
Criticizing the Congress government’s decision to increase ghee and butter prices, Joshi claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s influence has “tainted” state leaders. “After the GST was reduced, they criticized us. Now they have raised prices themselves. This is the fallout of Rahul Gandhi’s negative influence,” he alleged.
Making an analogy, he added: “Just like a tiger cub and a lamb behave differently, Congress leaders have also transformed under Rahul Gandhi’s influence. His presence compels them to speak thoughtlessly.”
“The state government has exacerbated the price rise — they must promptly retract the hike,” he demanded.
BJP ST Morcha State President Bangaru Hanumanthu and State Spokesperson Prakash Shesharaghavachar attended the event.
