Hyderabad, Oct 21 (NationPress) Lankala Deepak Reddy officially submitted his nomination as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the upcoming bypoll for the Jubilee Hills Assembly seat in Hyderabad.

He arrived at the Shaikpet MRO office in a vibrant rally to hand over his nomination papers to Returning Officer P. Sairam.

Prior to heading to the MRO office, Deepak Reddy, accompanied by Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and state BJP president Ramchander Rao, conducted a puja at the Vijayadurga temple in Venkatagiri.

A significant turnout of BJP workers, proudly waving party flags, marched in the rally, which traversed several areas within the constituency before arriving at the MRO office.

In the previous election held in 2023, Deepak Reddy stood in the Jubilee Hills contest but did not secure a victory.

Maganti Gopinath from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) triumphed over former Indian cricket captain and Congress candidate Mohammed Azharuddin by a margin of 16,337 votes, marking his third consecutive term.

In a contest featuring multiple candidates, Gopinath collected 80,549 votes, while Azharuddin received 64,212 votes. Deepak Reddy finished in third place with 25,866 votes.

The recent passing of Gopinath in June prompted the need for a by-election. The BRS has nominated Gopinath's wife, Maganti Sunitha, while the ruling Congress party has chosen Naveen Yadav as their candidate.

According to the schedule from the Election Commission of India, today (October 21) marks the final day for submitting nominations. Scrutiny of submitted nominations is scheduled for October 22, with withdrawal of candidatures permitted until October 24.

Voting will occur on November 11, followed by the counting of votes on November 14.

In a parallel campaign effort, the state BJP president actively engaged with local residents on Tuesday, sharing breakfast at a local establishment and discussing community concerns and opinions.
