New Delhi, Sep 1 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu made significant judicial appointments on Monday, designating one judge to the Allahabad High Court and confirming three additional judges as Permanent Judges in the Kerala High Court, according to an official announcement.
Advocate Arun Kumar has been appointed as a Judge of the Allahabad High Court, as stated by a representative from the Law and Justice Ministry.
The judges elevated to Permanent status at the Kerala High Court include Justice Johnson John, Justice G. U. Girish, and Justice C.N. Pratheep Kumar, who previously served as additional judges.
Additionally, last month, the government approved the advancement of Bombay High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Patna High Court Chief Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi to the Supreme Court.
Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal shared on X that, following discussions with the Chief Justice of India (CJI), the President was delighted to appoint Justices Aradhe and Pancholi as Supreme Court judges.
With their appointments, the Supreme Court now has its sanctioned strength of 34 judges, including the Chief Justice of India.
A statement published on the apex court's website noted, "The Supreme Court Collegium, during its meeting on August 25, 2025, recommended the elevation of the following Chief Justices of High Courts as Judges of the Supreme Court: (i) Justice Alok Aradhe, Chief Justice, High Court of Bombay (PHC: High Court of Madhya Pradesh) (ii) Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi, Chief Justice, High Court of Judicature at Patna (PHC: High Court of Gujarat)."
On August 27, the Centre also announced the appointment of Justice Shree Chandrashekhar as Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court following the elevation of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe to the Supreme Court.
In a separate notification, Justice Pavankumar Bhimappa Bajanthri was named Acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court shortly after Chief Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi's elevation to the Supreme Court.
