K. T. Rama Rao Appeals to Supreme Court Against High Court Ruling on Quash Petition

Hyderabad, Jan 7 (NationPress) K. T. Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has taken his case to the Supreme Court to dispute the order issued by the Telangana High Court, which rejected his petition aimed at quashing the FIR filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) concerning the Formula-E race.

The legal team representing the former minister has submitted a petition to the apex court, which is anticipated to be heard in a few days.

On Tuesday, the High Court announced its decision to dismiss KTR's petition to annul the First Information Report (FIR) that was filed last month. Additionally, the court declined to issue orders that would prevent the ACB from detaining Rama Rao, retracting the interim protection that had previously been in place during the review of the quash petition.

In response, the BRS leader committed to persist in his pursuit of truth, stating, 'Mark my words, our comeback will be stronger than this setback.' He expressed on X, 'Your lies won't shatter me. Your words won't diminish me. Your actions won't obscure my vision. This cacophony won't silence me. Today's obstacles will give way to tomorrow's triumph. The truth will shine brighter with time.' KTR, also known as Rama Rao, emphasized that he holds great respect for the judiciary and maintains a firm belief that justice will ultimately prevail. 'My fight for truth continues, and soon, the world will also witness it.' he added.

The ACB initiated a case against KTR, Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, and former chief engineer of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), B.L.N. Reddy, on December 29. This was in connection with alleged financial misconduct related to the organization of the Formula E-car race in 2023, when the BRS was in governance.

The FIR was filed under Sections 13(1)(A) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, as well as Sections 409 and 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code. This action followed a complaint by the Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), Dana Kishore, alleging financial irregularities exceeding Rs 54.88 crore paid by HMDA to Formula-E Operations Limited (FEO) and associated organizations without following the proper financial protocols.

The ACB had summoned KTR for questioning on January 6. Although the former minister arrived at the ACB office, he left without being interrogated as his lawyer was barred from attending the questioning session.

He submitted a letter to the ACB, requesting a postponement of the questioning until the High Court's ruling was announced. The ACB has since issued a new notice instructing KTR to appear on January 9.
