Kannada Icon Shivarajkumar Released from US Hospital After Cancer Triumph

Bengaluru, Jan 4 (NationPress) Kannada icon Dr Shivarajkumar, the son of the renowned Kannada film legend Dr Rajkumar, has been officially released from a hospital in Miami, US, following his complete recovery from cancer, according to family sources on Saturday.
His daughter, Nivedita, shared a heartwarming picture that captures the actor and his family enjoying some relaxed moments together. Reports suggest that Shivarajkumar will remain in the US for follow-up appointments and to recuperate for one month, with plans to return for shooting either in the first week or the second week of February.
The actor is set to commence filming for a pan-India project featuring Telugu superstar Ramcharan shortly.
Earlier, on the first day of 2025, Shivarajkumar posted a video from the US, sharing his journey of overcoming cancer and reassuring his fans of his return to the screen.
In this video, he expressed his New Year wishes and mentioned, “I feel hesitant to speak as emotions are overwhelming. Leaving Karnataka was a deeply emotional moment for me. Under these circumstances, fear is natural, but the support from my fans has alleviated it significantly.”
He added, “The exceptional care provided by the doctors gave me tremendous strength. While filming for the movie ‘45’, I underwent chemotherapy and even shot the climax fight scene. As my departure date for treatment in the US approached, I felt anxious. Fortunately, my wife Geetha and daughter Nivedita were my pillars of support throughout this journey.”
“Dr Manohar, who attended to me, treated me with the utmost care. My urinary bladder has been replaced, but there is no reason for concern. I am recovering well and will return with double the enthusiasm. I am grateful to all my fans for their steadfast support,” Shivarajkumar reassured.
His wife, Geetha Shivarajkumar, who appeared alongside him in the video, confirmed that all medical reports returned negative, officially declaring Shivarajkumar cancer-free. “His recovery is attributed to the blessings of his fans, which I will always cherish,” she remarked.
The actor underwent a surgical procedure in a hospital in Miami, US, where his cancerous bladder was excised. According to his surgeon, Dr Murugesh Manoharan, an artificial bladder was constructed using Shivarajkumar’s intestine.
In November, Shivarajkumar publicly addressed his health issues, acknowledging his humanity. Although he did not specify it was cancer, he stated, “Ultimately, I am just a human. I face health challenges and am currently undergoing treatment. I have completed several sessions, with more to follow. Afterward, I will have surgery, either in India or the US.”
