Bengaluru, April 24 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP on Thursday criticized AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge for his reluctance to explicitly identify the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack as Hindus.
While paying final respects to Bharat Bhushan, one of the individuals fatally shot by terrorists in Pahalgam, BJP State President B. Y. Vijayendra stressed the importance of national unity.
"Setting politics aside, every citizen of Bharat must unite and stand together during this time," he stated.
Vijayendra asserted that leaders, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Kharge, and RDPR, IT, and BT Minister Priyank Kharge, should communicate with a greater sense of responsibility.
"Looking at Mallikarjun Kharge's post on the social media platform X, he mentions that terrorists targeted Indian tourists. It seems he forgot to specify that the victims were Hindus," Vijayendra remarked.
He claimed that the terrorists had singled out the victims based on their religion before executing them.
"Despite this, Kharge refers to them simply as Indian tourists. It's astonishing that Congress leaders fail to recognize the victims as Hindus," he added.
"This reflects a significant tragedy for our nation. At this point, they need to awaken. We must convey a unified message to the world. Every Indian should transcend politics and come together," Vijayendra urged.
He also remarked on the comments made by Siddaramaiah and Priyank Kharge. "Those in positions of authority need to issue statements that are both careful and thoughtful," he insisted.
Vijayendra challenged CM Siddaramaiah regarding his criticism of central intelligence agencies. "Hon'ble Siddaramaiah, this question should be directed at senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. The Congress party governed this nation for over sixty years post-independence," he noted.
"Why was Congress unable to eradicate terrorism? Instead of addressing this, political maneuvering continues. At this crucial moment, we must unite and send a global message. Terrorism is not confined to Bharat; it has become a worldwide issue," he continued.
Vijayendra pointed out that whenever Prime Minister Narendra Modi travels abroad, he consistently highlights the necessity to eliminate terrorism.
"The Pahalgam incident has incited outrage among all Indians. This was not just an attack on Hindus; it was an attempt by terror organizations to undermine the unity and integrity of our nation," he stated.
He further mentioned that the Modi government is taking the issue seriously.
Abrogation of Article 370 was a move towards peace, boosting tourism, and restoring normalcy in the region, he stated.
Vijayendra indicated that the underlying motive behind the attack was to deter tourists, both local and international, from visiting Jammu and Kashmir.
"The local youth of Jammu and Kashmir had started to gain employment with the restoration of normalcy and tourism. These terror organizations do not want that. They prefer the youth to remain unemployed, radicalized, and recruited for terrorism," he emphasized.
