Padmanabha Saphalya, who served as the vice president of Idkidu Gram Panchayat, has been removed from the party following the filing of an FIR against him.

The incident reportedly took place in Idkidu village, located near Bantwal town, where Saphalya is accused of flashing his private parts at a woman as she walked home. The victim subsequently lodged a police complaint against the BJP leader.

In light of the police investigation and the official complaint, the BJP's Puttur Assembly Constituency Unit swiftly issued an expulsion order.

The official statement declared: "The primary membership of Padmanabha Saphalya has been revoked, and he is expelled from the party immediately."

The party emphasized that the action was taken due to the indecent behaviour that not only disrespected a woman but also tarnished the party's image, which is dedicated to maintaining dignity and ensuring women's representation. The expelled leader has also been instructed to resign from his position as vice president of the Gram Panchayat.

Reports indicate that the incident arose from a dispute when the woman confronted the accused regarding the installation of a gate obstructing access to her residence. As she walked down the road, Saphalya allegedly exposed himself, an act that was said to have been captured on video.

The victim approached the Vitla police station to file a formal complaint, leading to the registration of an FIR and an ongoing investigation.

Ravi faced arrest for allegedly using a derogatory term towards Minister for Women and Child Development Laxmi Hebbalkar during the Karnataka State Legislature's winter session in Belagavi. Both Ravi and the BJP have categorically denied these allegations.
