Bengaluru, March 2 (NationPress) The Karnataka Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashoka, has declared that a protest will take place on the inaugural day of the legislative budget session on Monday to oppose the Karnataka Congress government for its ongoing disrespect towards the Governor.

In a statement to the media on Sunday, he remarked: "The Congress government consistently disparages the Governor. They disrespect him while simultaneously expecting him to commend their administration. In response, the BJP will conduct a demonstration on March 3. BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, JD (S) leaders Suresh Babu and Bhojegowda, along with numerous other MLAs, will participate in this protest. The leaders will march from the MLAs' quarters to Vidhana Soudha on Monday morning."

He also expressed that, in addition to this issue, there has been a lack of progress in developmental initiatives within the state. Even Congress MLAs have acknowledged this shortcoming. Meanwhile, the government is incurring loans amounting to Rs 1 lakh crore, claiming to be short on funds while imposing heavy taxes on citizens. In light of this, a padayatra (foot march) and protest is scheduled for March 7, from the MLAs' quarters to Vidhana Soudha," he continued.

Furthermore, he lambasted the Siddaramaiah-led government, asserting: "The government has misappropriated funds designated for Dalits to support their guarantee schemes. Money allocated for Dalit welfare should exclusively fund Dalit-related initiatives. During the elections, they pledged free benefits for all, yet now they are redirecting Dalit funds. Previously, they accused the BJP of demanding a 40 percent commission, claiming they would use that money for guarantees. Now, even contractors have voiced concerns regarding the commission system under the Congress government."

Criticizing Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, he stated: "He suggested that the public should be obedient. Now, he threatens film artists, declaring he will 'tighten the nuts and bolts' on them. Before doing so, he should first address dissenters within the Congress, including Minister K.N. Rajanna. No film artists were invited to the event, yet they are being intimidated. This poses a threat to democracy. Film artists are not the slaves of the Congress party. Their support does not dictate the success of films."

He further added: "Threats and hooliganism have no place in a democracy. The BJP government has always extended significant support to the film industry. If the late Ambareesh were alive today, he would have effectively countered these remarks. The film industry should vehemently denounce these comments, as they are an affront to artists. D.K. Shivakumar must apologize without delay."

In comparing leadership styles, Ashoka pointed out, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with leaders like Sharad Pawar and former PM H.D. Deve Gowda, has consistently shown great respect for everyone. He exemplifies a model of respect, while Shivakumar has become a model of threats."
