Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday, 19 May credited the Congress-led state government with fulfilling its pre-election commitments and steering Karnataka toward broad-based development, speaking ahead of the administration's three-year anniversary celebration in Tumakuru. The event, officially titled the Sadhana Samavesha, is expected to draw over two lakh attendees, with nearly 4,000 buses arranged to ferry participants from across the state.

During the convention, projects and schemes worth approximately ₹662 crore are set to be inaugurated and have foundation stones laid. Around 1.52 lakh beneficiaries will receive land title deeds, while nearly 1.40 lakh others are to receive property documents and benefits linked to revenue villages and pension schemes under the Revenue Department's pouthi khata and Barakast podi initiatives.

Five Guarantees: The Government's Central Claim

Siddaramaiah, in a video message released ahead of the event, said the Congress party had drafted its manifesto — incorporating five guarantee schemes — under the leadership of state Home Minister G. Parameshwara before the 2022 assembly elections. The Chief Minister asserted that all five guarantees were implemented within the government's first year in office. He added that the administration had countered criticism that the schemes would strain the state's finances, arguing that successful rollout proved fiscal fears unfounded.

Political Leadership at the Convention

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, cabinet ministers, legislators, and Members of Parliament are all expected to attend the Tumakuru convention. Siddaramaiah used the occasion to invite citizens to participate in large numbers, framing the event as a public accounting of the government's record over three years.

The Sadhana Samavesha comes at a politically significant moment for the Karnataka Congress, which swept to power in May 2023 on the back of its guarantee-scheme platform — covering free electricity, cash transfers to women, free bus travel, and food security measures, among others. Notably, the choice of Tumakuru — a district with considerable political weight in the Vokkaliga and OBC belt — signals a deliberate outreach strategy.
