Bengaluru, March 7 (NationPress) The government of Karnataka declared on Friday that the price of movie tickets in multiplexes statewide will be limited to Rs 200.
During the Budget presentation for the financial year 2025-26, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated: "Each show ticket price in all theaters, including multiplexes, will be capped at Rs 200."
In another significant decision, the ex-gratia compensation for loss of life due to wild animal attacks has been raised from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
The Chief Minister also announced, "To combat the wild elephant and leopard issues in the state, eight elephant task forces and two leopard task forces have been established. This program will receive Rs 17 crore this year."
"Since 2015, 392 km of railway barricades have been built to tackle the man-elephant conflict. An additional 150 km of railway barricade work is planned for the next two years, with Rs 60 crore allocated for the year 2025-26," he explained.
To effectively manage the man-elephant conflict in Karnataka, a grant of Rs 20 crore will be allocated for establishing a 'Wild-elephant Soft Release Centre' within a 20 sq km area of the Bhadra Tiger Reserve.
Measures for landslide prevention will be implemented in the coastal and hilly regions of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Hassan, Kodagu, and Chikkamagaluru, costing Rs 200 crore.
This year, the government plans to undertake improvements on 1,850 km of state highways and 2,570 km of district roads at a budget of Rs 4,848 crore.
CM Siddaramaiah noted that the Foxconn company has initiated a mobile phone manufacturing facility in the Devanahalli Industrial Area with a total investment of Rs 21,911 crore. The company will receive Rs 6,970 crore in incentives from ESDM.
A Japanese Industrial Park will be developed in the Tumkur Industrial Node under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor initiative.
"A new IT policy will be launched in 2025 to enhance the state’s presence in technology. This policy will focus on cloud computing and the advancement of emerging technologies, while also extending IT services to tier-2 and tier-3 cities, reinforcing Karnataka's status as a global tech hub," the CM remarked.
"To maximize tourism development opportunities, our government has introduced a New Tourism Policy 2024-29. This initiative aims to make tourism a priority sector through sustainable development, targeting an investment of Rs 8,000 crore and creating 1.5 lakh jobs."
"The Sri Renuka Yallamma Temple, a key religious site, and the Devika Rani Roerich Estate will receive funding under the Special Capital Assistance Scheme, totaling Rs 199 crore," he added.
Under the 'Target-Olympic Medal' scheme, 60 elite athletes from the state will be selected to receive Rs 10 lakh per year for three years to prepare for the 2028 Olympics.
CM Siddaramaiah revealed that Joida taluka in the Uttara-Kannada district will be designated as the first "organic taluka" in the state to encourage sustainable organic farming, providing organic certification to farmers for better market access.
In the year 2024-25, agricultural loans totaling Rs 18,960 crore have been distributed to 21.78 lakh farmers. Despite a 58 percent reduction in the refinancing limit by NABARD, we remain committed to achieving our goals," he concluded.
