Karnataka Politics: BJP Accuses Shivakumar of Ambition for Chief Minister's Role

Bengaluru, Jan 10 (NationPress) In light of the alleged discord among the ruling Congress party in the state, the Karnataka BJP has stated that Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar is urgently seeking the Chief Minister's position. Meanwhile, CM Siddaramaiah, unwilling to give up his role, has begun implementing strategic actions.

During a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Bengaluru, the state unit President B.Y. Vijayendra remarked: "In the winter session, on the assembly floor, Shivakumar referred to former CM late S.M. Krishna, his political guide, who advised him that if power isn’t handed over, it must be seized. After 15 years, Shivakumar recalled those words in the assembly. I believe the underlying meaning of his statement is evident to you (the media)."

"Rumors suggest that CM Siddaramaiah’s term is nearing its conclusion based on the power-sharing agreement. In this context, Shivakumar has been vocal. Both CM Siddaramaiah and his deputy Shivakumar should clarify the power-sharing arrangement. As per our information, Siddaramaiah's time in office is nearly finished."

The BJP leader alleged that CM Siddaramaiah has begun to make his moves.

"He has initiated ‘dinner politics’ through various ministers in his Cabinet. Earlier, I highlighted that Siddaramaiah commenced his strategy by assembling MLAs and ministers for a meeting at a minister’s residence,” Vijayendra asserted.

"Regardless of opposition from the high command, dinner politics will continue in Karnataka. Shivakumar will amplify his attempts to forcibly claim power, adhering to his mentor's advice. We are aware of this. The internal discord within the Congress is surfacing, and the citizens of the state are likely to witness more political theatrics," Vijayendra added.

The Karnataka BJP chief also mentioned that one of the seers reportedly counseled Shivakumar that if he doesn’t attain power, he should seize it.

"Day by day, dinner politics is becoming prominent in the Congress party. Minister for PWD Satish Jarkiholi hosted a dinner for select MLAs, while Home Minister G. Parameshwara organized another dinner for legislators,” he noted.

According to Vijayendra, this struggle for power has had detrimental effects on the state.

"In the last two years, there has been a lack of development. Since Siddaramaiah took office as CM, no significant progress has been made. MLAs are finding it challenging to secure funds for development projects. Siddaramaiah is caught between the need to allocate resources for development and fulfilling commitments,” he commented.
