Mysuru, Oct 11 (NationPress) Shocking revelations have surfaced following the autopsy of a nine-year-old girl who was tragically discovered deceased near the Exhibition Grounds, adjacent to Mysuru Palace. The perpetrator, after committing the heinous act of rape on the young girl, inflicted 19 stab wounds, which ultimately led to her demise, according to police reports.

The minor sustained stab injuries to her neck, chest, abdomen, and private areas, the authorities disclosed.

Tests conducted on the suspect confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crime.

The body of the victim, who sold balloons for a living, was found in Mysuru city, Karnataka, on Thursday.

Police utilized CCTV footage to trace the suspect's movements, leading to his arrest on Friday.

The victim's family belongs to one of the 50 Hakki-Pikki tribal families living near Doddakere Grounds, directly in front of Mysuru Palace and opposite the Exhibition Grounds.

On Wednesday night, the young girl had sold balloons at the Chamundeshwari Teppotsava, a religious festival, and later slept alongside her parents. The following morning, her parents noticed her absence and filed a missing persons report.

Initial investigations indicated that the suspect was previously released on bail for a rape and attempted murder case involving a female government worker.

In a dramatic turn of events, police shot the suspect in the leg after he allegedly attempted to flee.

In response, BJP leaders criticized the Congress-led government for its inability to maintain law and order in Mysuru city.

The suspect, identified as Karthik, hails from Kollegal town in Chamarajanagar district.

Karthik had abducted the girl while she was asleep in a tent with her parents.

Previously, in 2019, Karthik attempted to rape a government employee and tried to drown her by pushing her into a lake.

He was convicted in that case in February 2020 and sentenced to four years in prison. Instead of returning home after being granted bail, he had been wandering freely.

Point of View

I believe that this tragic incident underscores the urgent need for systemic changes in law enforcement and community safety measures. The heartbreaking loss of a young life must serve as a wake-up call to address the deep-rooted issues of crime and justice in our society. We must advocate for stronger protections for vulnerable populations, particularly children, to prevent such atrocities in the future.
