Harda (Madhya Pradesh), July 15 (NationPress) - Following his release from jail in Harda on Monday, Karni Sena chief Jeevan Singh Sherpur announced on Tuesday that the organization will soon declare its next steps regarding the recent police action during protests over the weekend.

In a video message shared on social media shortly after his release, Sherpur mentioned that a meeting will occur once other detained Karni Sena members are released, where they will strategize a significant protest against what he termed as “harsh brutality” by the Harda police during the weekend.

“Our battle will persist, and there will be no compromises. I urge all members of the Karni Sena community to refrain from visiting Harda in the upcoming days due to the ongoing tense situation,” he stated.

He also stressed that the Sena will not harm government or private property and will pursue a path of peaceful protest.

In the meantime, the Harda district administration has asserted that the incident is being politicized and misrepresented as targeted action against a specific community.

Officials stated that a video compilation, including CCTV footage and other visuals from the protest, has been assembled to validate the police action and explain that it was not aimed at any particular group. The video is expected to be released after receiving approval from the state administration.

The situation in Harda intensified after Karni Sena members protested against an alleged fraud involving one of their leaders, Ashish Rajput, who claimed he was deceived out of Rs 18 lakh in a diamond-related transaction. Rajput had lodged a police complaint against three individuals and spearheaded the protest demanding action.

During the demonstration, police resorted to a lathi-charge and deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd, resulting in the arrest of over 50 individuals.

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, along with his MLA son Jaivardhan Singh, visited the detained Karni Sena members in Harda and called for an independent investigation into the police actions. He also demanded the removal of the district collector and the police superintendent.

At a press conference on Monday, Digvijaya Singh stated that a memorandum would be submitted to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav upon his return to Bhopal.

Another Congress leader, Ajay Singh, condemned the police response, stating, “Lathi-charge is not a solution to every problem. I urge Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to engage in dialogue with the protesting leaders and peacefully resolve the issue.”
