Is Kavitha Leading a Protest Against Notices Issued to KCR Over Kaleshwaram Project Irregularities?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, June 4 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha spearheaded a demonstration on Wednesday against the notices dispatched to party president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao by the P. C. Ghose Commission, which is investigating alleged discrepancies in the Kaleshwaram project.
Telangana Jagruthi, led by Kavitha, organized a Maha Dharna near Indira Park. She labeled the notices as a political plot aimed at discrediting BRS leader K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR).
Kavitha, the daughter of KCR, claimed that the Congress-led government instituted the Commission to tarnish KCR's reputation.
She emphasized that the former Chief Minister had revolutionized Telangana's agricultural landscape, transforming barren lands into productive fields, and accused Congress of targeting him to distract the public from its own governance shortcomings.
"What error has KCR made to warrant such a notice?" she questioned, asserting that a notice to KCR signifies a notice to all of Telangana.
The BRS MLC criticized the Congress government for neglecting even minor repairs on the Medigadda Barrage, part of the Kaleshwaram initiative, asserting that once operational, the project would irrigate 35 percent of Telangana.
Kavitha condemned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for failing to protect Telangana's rightful share of the Godavari River from Andhra Pradesh. She insisted that the state government halt the diversion of waters under the Godavari-Penna link project.
She also called out former minister and BJP MP Eatala Rajender for not defending KCR against the notice. Kavitha urged Rajender to advocate for the Kaleshwaram project to receive national status and to put an end to the Godavari-Banakacharla link project.
This was Kavitha's first protest since her recent criticisms, which indirectly targeted her brother and BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR).
Kavitha had previously questioned why the BRS had not organized any protest against the Kaleshwaram Commission's notices to KCR. She remarked that mere posts on social media wouldn’t benefit the party.
Following the leak of her confidential letter to KCR, which stirred controversy within the party, she affirmed her commitment to working exclusively under KCR's leadership. She criticized party members who have targeted her through "paid articles" and social media posts.
