Kozhikode, Oct 25 (NationPress) Former BJP state unit president K. Surendran asserted that Kerala has finally embraced the appropriate position on the National Education Policy (NEP), a stance the BJP has consistently championed. Surendran observed that both the state administration and several Congress-led states have recognized the validity of the BJP's viewpoint, even though the implementation has been slow over the past four years.
He condemned the procrastination in launching NEP initiatives, highlighting that countless students have been deprived of the advantages associated with the policy's contemporary educational programs.
Surendran urged the government to execute the NEP in the current academic year without any further postponements, emphasizing that students should not face any inconveniences.
He criticized the Left Front for generating unwarranted controversies, which he believes misled the public and contributed significantly to the ongoing discussions regarding educational reforms.
Expressing support for the Education Minister's acknowledgment of the NEP's validity and his revision of previous statements, Surendran called for a public apology due to the extended period of inaction.
He dismissed the CPI(M)'s assertion that the PM-SHRI initiative is merely a means to “generate revenue” and that policies would remain unexecuted as “laughable,” asserting that directives from the Central Government will be implemented in Kerala just as in other states.
Surendran further emphasized that curriculum reform is a concurrent subject, permitting intervention from both the Centre and the state.
He stated that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will amend the historical narratives overlooked by Congress, motivating students to learn about influential figures such as Veer Savarkar, Dr. Hedgewar, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
He also criticized the CPI, remarking that “the CPI may bark, but it won’t bite.” Surendran noted that the CPI’s claims, including opposition to Maoist hunts and ration reforms, have not been realized, and even their ministers did not resign over contentious issues like the One India One Ration Card scheme.
According to Surendran, the current discussions indicate that both the Left and Congress in Kerala are attempting to mislead the public rather than prioritizing the practical execution of educational reforms.
