Ten days after the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) swept to power in Kerala in one of its most emphatic victories in recent political history, the alliance remains mired in a deepening deadlock over the choice of Chief Minister — with public anger now spilling onto the streets of Wayanad. Anonymous posters targeting Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra appeared near the Wayanad District Congress Committee (DCC) office on 13 May, reflecting growing resistance to the possible elevation of K.C. Venugopal as Kerala's next Chief Minister.

What the Posters Said

The posters, written in English and clearly directed at the Congress high command, accused Rahul and Priyanka of attempting to impose Venugopal on Kerala against widespread public sentiment. One poster warned that 'Kerala will never forgive you', while another declared that 'Wayanad will become another Amethi' — a pointed reference to Rahul Gandhi's defeat in the Uttar Pradesh constituency in 2019.

The posters further mocked Venugopal as merely Rahul Gandhi's 'bag bearer' and warned that both Gandhi siblings would no longer be welcome in Wayanad if the high command ignored public opinion. One poster stated:
