Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 24 (NationPress) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has reiterated its commitment to proceed with the Central Government’s PM SHRI scheme, despite significant opposition from its ally, the CPI, regarding the agreement's signing.
CPI-M State Secretary M.V. Govindan emphasized that the party's stance remains unchanged and believes that the concerns raised by its allies can be amicably addressed through dialogue.
“Kerala is poised to receive Rs 8,000 crore under the PM SHRI initiative. The Centre is obligated to release these funds without imposing conditions that threaten the state's fiscal independence,” he stated.
Govindan accused the Union Government of implementing policies that are harmful to states like Kerala, asserting that the Centre has enforced stringent conditions that could negatively affect economic advancement.
“We reject policy stipulations that resemble an economic blockade on states,” he asserted.
Nonetheless, he made it clear that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government has limitations and cannot implement every policy proposed by the Front.
“The government has its own constraints. It isn't capable of executing all LDF policy decisions,” he noted.
