Wayanad, June 28 (NationPress) The decomposed remains of a man from Kerala, who had been reported missing for approximately 15 months, were discovered on Saturday in a forest region of Tamil Nadu adjacent to the Wayanad district. This finding comes after a collaborative search effort by the police forces from both Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

53-year-old Hemachandran was last seen around March of the previous year. On April 1, his spouse filed a missing person report at the Medical College Kozhikode police station.

It has been revealed that Hemachandran departed his residence on March 20 after receiving a phone call from a woman.

Since then, local law enforcement has been actively investigating his disappearance, uncovering significant leads related to financial transactions that Hemachandran was involved in. As a result of analyzing call records, police have apprehended two individuals.

Reports indicate that when the combined police team arrived at the forest site, the two suspects were also present.

It is believed that this duo was responsible for burying Hemachandran, while another individual named Naushad has emerged as a primary suspect.

Naushad, as per police information, is currently residing abroad. Authorities plan to issue a look-out notice and take actions to extradite him following further investigations.

The individual who assisted the police in the excavation indicated that the consistently cold conditions of the area had resulted in minimal decomposition.

“As we were excavating, we initially uncovered the back of the body, followed by the leg. Shortly thereafter, the remains were retrieved, and it was confirmed to be Hemachandran,” explained the excavator.

During the excavation process, officials from both the revenue department and police from Kerala and Tamil Nadu were in attendance.

A police representative informed the media that the remains will undergo a DNA test to verify the identity of the deceased as Hemachandran.
