New Delhi, July 25 (NationPress) In the Lok Sabha, a series of significant reports will be presented on Friday, featuring the Standing Committee on External Affairs' findings regarding the efforts to combat global terrorism on both regional and international fronts.
According to the Business List of the Lower House, Members Arvind Sawant and Arun Govil are slated to deliver the committee's statements.
These include -- a statement detailing the government's actions in response to observations/recommendations concerning India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) - Framework for Cooperation; a statement on the government's responses to observations/recommendations on India's Engagement with G20 Nations; and a statement regarding actions taken by the government on the Countering Global Terrorism at Regional and International Levels.
The Lower House will also feature various reports from the Public Accounts Committee (2025-26), presented by members Dharmendra Yadav and Jai Parkash.
These reports highlight issues such as the failure of CMPFO Management to make timely decisions regarding the redemption of debentures from Dewan Housing Finance Corporation Limited (DHFL), leading to an avoidable loss of Rs 315.35 crore; losses arising from indecision by the Railway Administration concerning land acquisition: East Central Railway; the grant of concessions without proper declarations; and tax evasion due to sales suppression.
Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will introduce The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Bill, 2024, which was motioned by the minister on December 17, 2024, and is now up for review and approval.
This bill aims to ensure the reservation of seats in accordance with Article 332 of the Constitution for effective democratic participation of Scheduled Tribes. It facilitates the readjustment of seats in the Goa Legislative Assembly as necessitated by the inclusion of certain communities in the Scheduled Tribes list within the state.
Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will also present the Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024, intended to consolidate and revise regulations regarding merchant shipping, ensuring compliance with India's commitments under maritime treaties and international agreements, while also promoting the development of Indian shipping and the efficient management of the Indian mercantile marine in a manner that best serves national interests.
