Srinagar, May 31 (NationPress) Robust security measures have been established for the upcoming Mela Kheer Bhawani in the Ganderbal district of J&K, according to an official announcement on Saturday.
The annual celebration of Mata Kheer Bhawani, scheduled for June 3, represents the most sacred festival for the Kashmir Pandit community.
This spring shrine located in Tullamulla, approximately 25 km from Srinagar city, is dedicated to the deity Ragnya Devi, considered the reincarnation of goddess Durga.
Local Kashmiri Pandits hold a belief that the color of the water from the goddess's spring in Tullamulla can predict future events in J&K and across the nation. A pink or milky hue is viewed with suspicion, while a dark black shade indicates ominous times ahead.
According to elders in Tullamulla, in 1947, during the tribal invasion of Kashmir, the spring water had turned black.

In light of the recent incident in Pahalgam, the IGP stressed that the security arrangements for such events are continually reviewed and enhanced.
He assured that the strategies used during last year’s mela, which was incident-free, will be replicated and further improved this year.
Additionally, he mentioned that similar vigilance is being applied for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra, with regular threat evaluations and area sanitization being conducted.
