Hyderabad, April 3 (NationPress) Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, has accused the Congress party of failing to fulfill its election commitments in Telangana. He cautioned the residents of Kerala against falling for the party's “false promises” in the upcoming Assembly elections.
In a public letter directed to Kerala's citizens, Kishan Reddy detailed the six guarantees and additional pledges made by Congress in Telangana.
“The situation in Telangana serves as a crucial lesson. While election promises may appear enticing, without effective planning and stringent financial management, they ultimately remain unfulfilled,” stated Kishan Reddy, the BJP Member of Parliament from Telangana.
He criticized the Congress party's advertisements in Kerala that claim successful implementation of their promises in Telangana, advising the public to not be misled by such claims.
He emphasized that before accepting these assurances, it is essential to scrutinize the outcomes in states where similar promises have been made in the past.
“Keralam deserves a government that prioritizes development, financial stability, and integrity in administration instead of mere election pledges. Keralam, often referred to as ‘God’s Own Country,’ should not allow political opportunists, who have previously deceived citizens with unfulfilled commitments, to do so again,” he remarked.
He urged the people of Kerala to thoughtfully evaluate the facts and make an informed choice regarding the state's future.
Kishan Reddy asserted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the sole alternative that has consistently supported the people of Kerala and delivered on its promises, urging the public to grant the BJP-led coalition an opportunity to serve.
He described Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s recent visit to Kerala on April 1 as marked by uninformed statements that did not resonate with the discerning public.
In his campaign speeches, he attempted to depict the Congress government in Telangana as successfully executing its manifesto promises and enjoying unwavering support from Telangana’s populace, Kishan Reddy noted.
The Union Minister pointed out that the Congress party ascended to power in Telangana by making six guarantees along with over 420 promises aimed at farmers, women, youth, and the underprivileged.
He claimed that these guarantees by Congress are entirely deceptive.
Kishan Reddy elaborated that farmers were assured Rs 15,000 per acre per year, in addition to Rs 12,000 financial aid for agricultural laborers, yet no farmer has seen this support after multiple crop seasons.
He noted that promises to enhance the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 10 crops and to issue a Rs 500 bonus per quintal for paddy have not been honored.
Another significant promise was the farm loan waiver, with around 40 lakh farmers still awaiting this benefit as the government now claims insufficient funds.
He highlighted that women were promised Rs 2,500 monthly, 10 grams of gold, and Rs 1 lakh in financial aid for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, but none have received these promised benefits.
“Meanwhile, Telangana's financial health has deteriorated, with the state's total debt exceeding Rs 10 lakh crore. Many ambitious promises were made without proper financial planning, plunging the state deeper into debt,” he concluded.
