Hyderabad, June 2 (NationPress) Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has expressed that the dreams of the people of Telangana remain unfulfilled after a decade. Once a state with a surplus budget, Telangana now bears debts nearing Rs 10 lakh crore.
Speaking at the state BJP office on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day, where he unfurled the national flag, Kishan Reddy, also the state BJP president, highlighted the sacrifices made for the formation of Telangana. He noted that the Telangana movement was characterized by non-violence and emphasized the BJP's pivotal role in it.
He remarked that the BJP was the first political party to advocate for Telangana's statehood. However, he voiced concern about the misappropriation of funds intended for irrigation projects post-statehood. “The youth anticipated employment opportunities upon the formation of Telangana, yet only KCR's family benefited while the broader youth population was left without jobs. The aspirations for which the people fought remain unmet in the last decade,” he stated.
Criticizing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Kishan Reddy claimed that Telangana failed to become 'Bangaru (golden)' Telangana, while KCR's family prospered. He argued that the state has suffered injustices in terms of water, funds, and job opportunities, underscoring the need for further change.
Kishan Reddy assured that the BJP is committed to realizing the aspirations of Telangana's martyrs. He extended greetings to the populace on State Formation Day, honoring those who sacrificed their lives for the state.
“We possess a rich history and invaluable cultural heritage. Our Telangana is a treasure trove with abundant natural resources,” Kishan Reddy shared on 'X', hoping the state would play a significant role in India's progress, with the ambitions of the Telangana people eventually fulfilled.
The Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, also marked the day by unfurling the national flag at his office in Karimnagar, where he paid floral tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's portrait.
Earlier, Bandi Sanjay noted that Telangana's formation was a culmination of the aspirations of four crore people, stemming from a 60-year-long desire and struggle for self-respect, with martyrs and leaders like Sushma Swaraj playing crucial roles.
