Patna, March 26 (NationPress) Chief of Jan Suraaj, Prashant Kishor, stated on Wednesday that should the Waqf Amendment Bill be approved in Parliament, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should be held directly accountable.
During a media interaction in Patna on Wednesday, Kishor expressed his backing for the protest organized by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) against the proposed changes to the bill.
“I fully support AIMPLB's protest against the Waqf Bill. This legislation has been introduced repeatedly in Parliament, causing distress within the Muslim community. If it is enacted, Nitish Kumar will bear the responsibility,” Kishor remarked.
In a pointed criticism of the BJP, Kishor underscored that only a political system grounded in Gandhian principles can effectively challenge the ideological framework established by the ruling BJP.
“Jan Suraaj is not striving to seize power through elections in Bihar. It is a movement aimed at revitalizing the Congress system rooted in Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals prior to independence,” he clarified.
Kishor further asserted that Jan Suraaj is gradually attracting support, with hundreds joining each day, inspired by the vision of a brighter future for Bihar.
In a recent update, former IPS officer Muhammad Abdullah and social activist Amjad Hasan joined Jan Suraaj on Wednesday.
“The truth possesses a unique strength. Regardless of how much negativity is thrown at it, it remains unaltered. In time, the people of Bihar will recognize which party and system are most beneficial for their children’s future,” Kishor commented.
Earlier that day, the AIMPLB conducted a significant protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill at Gardanibagh Dharna Asthal.
The AIMPLB protest was backed by numerous political parties, including RJD, Congress, CPI-ML, among others, while substantial demonstrations were also witnessed inside and outside the Bihar Assembly.
