Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 9 (NationPress) The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), the technological arm of the state's General Education Department, has introduced an online Artificial Intelligence (AI) training program for educators in the Lakshadweep islands.
KITE's CEO, K. Anvar Sadath, stated that this initiative will reach all teachers across the nine islands, emphasizing AI and robotics.
“Robotics has been integrated into the updated Class 10 ICT textbooks used in Lakshadweep, as these islands follow the Kerala curriculum. To facilitate this, KITE will provide robotics kits to schools,” he explained.
This training is an enhanced version of the AI program previously delivered to 80,000 teachers in Kerala and is hosted on the same public-access platform, AI Essentials.
In the first phase, all 110 Postgraduate teachers will undergo training in five batches. Each batch will have one mentor for every 20 teachers, and the month-long program will be completed within four weeks.
The first section, 'AI at Your Fingertips,' introduces practical AI applications while covering its history, evolution, and future potential.
The second section, 'AI Art Gallery,' focuses on leveraging AI to create and enhance images, design logos and posters, and even construct 3D models.
The third section, 'Mastering AI,' provides hands-on training in prompt engineering and utilizing AI for reading and data analysis.
The fourth section, 'AI in Everyday Life,' offers practical guidance on using AI in domains such as music, coding, video production, and education.
The final section concludes the training by ensuring participants understand how to use AI responsibly and become familiar with the technical terminology in the field.
Sadath emphasized that the structured, mentor-guided approach will ensure that every teacher acquires practical skills and a comprehensive understanding of AI.
“This aligns with our broader mission to equip educators with 21st-century skills and guarantee that students in even the most remote regions can access technology-enhanced learning,” he added.
KITE, a state enterprise, aims to modernize educational institutions in Kerala through sustainable and inclusive technology interventions to transform the state into a knowledge society by enhancing the quality of educational inputs.
