Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 8 (NationPress) The President of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Sunny Joseph, clarified on Monday that the party's Vice President, V.T. Balram, was not personally involved in a controversial X post concerning Bihar, which has recently attracted significant attention.
In a statement released, he emphasized that the Digital Media Cell (DMC) of the KPCC operates with a team of professionals who are aligned with the party's values.
“While they are responsible for crafting posts regarding Kerala-specific topics, they must adhere strictly to the directives and stances set by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on national issues. In this instance, when the post about Bihar was deemed inconsistent with the party's official position, Balram, along with the KPCC leadership, highlighted the issue and ordered its immediate removal. The post was later deleted,” stated Joseph.
“Regrettably, some media entities and leaders from the CPI(M) are mischaracterizing this situation, suggesting that Balram authored the tweet himself. This is a calculated attempt to embroil him in controversy and tarnish his reputation,” commented the state Congress chief.
The party underscored that Balram has neither resigned nor undergone any disciplinary measures related to this matter. He remains in his roles as KPCC Vice President and Chairman of the DMC.
“Moreover, with the upcoming panchayat and Assembly elections, the party is contemplating a reorganization of its social media division,” Joseph added.
Simultaneously, the Congress party criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and state ministers for their lack of support for the mass protest led by Rahul Gandhi against the democratic erosion in Bihar, while instead amplifying issues stirred by the BJP.
“The attempts by the CPI(M) and certain media outlets to repeatedly involve prominent Congress leaders in unnecessary controversies will be dismissed with the seriousness they warrant. The KPCC categorically rejects such malicious campaigns,” concluded Joseph.
