Bengaluru, Oct 7 (NationPress) The authorities of the Karnataka government have officially sealed the premises of Jollywood Studios and Adventures, resulting in the suspension of the Bigg Boss reality show that was being filmed there as of Tuesday night.

All participants of Bigg Boss have been instructed to vacate the premises and were escorted outside.

On Tuesday, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) issued immediate closure orders for the Bigg Boss Kannada studio due to breaches of regulations and operating without the necessary permissions.

Season 12 of the reality show, hosted by Kannada superstar Kichcha Sudeep, was recently launched.

The operation was overseen by Ramanagara Tahsildar Tejaswini. Following the show's suspension, over 700 personnel, including technical staff, have returned home after working in three shifts for six continuous months, sources indicated.

The Bigg Boss house, constructed at a cost exceeding Rs 5 crore, has now been officially secured. The house was designed to resemble a palace and was built on an unprecedented scale, in line with Kichcha Sudeep’s vision.

As of now, arrangements have been made for all contestants to stay at Eagleton Resort. The organizers have transported the contestants by car to the resort.

In response to the situation, State Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre stated in Bengaluru, "Despite receiving notices regarding violations, they have persisted. No one is above the law, and action will be taken according to legal provisions."

"Vels Studios and Entertainment received a notice from Ramanagar Regional officers in March 2024. I have information that they lack permissions under the Water and Air Acts, which are mandatory. I have communicated with officials who have neglected to obtain permissions and have not even attempted to apply," he added.

Minister Khandre also expressed that despite numerous inspections and notices being issued, the ongoing activities at the amusement park are in violation of Supreme Court orders.

"This also constitutes a violation of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). Therefore, a closure notice has been issued for non-compliance with regulations," he emphasized.

When queried about the state's intention to shut down Big Boss, Khandre responded, “Action will proceed according to legal provisions. Everyone must adhere to the law. It is our duty to enforce the law, and we will. There’s no need for further thought on this.”

“There is an opportunity for all to approach the court; let the Big Boss creators file an appeal,” he added.

Previously, a notice was issued to disconnect the power supply, with allegations that the power source was illegal.

The reality show ‘Big Boss’ is being held at the 35-acre Jollywood Studios and Adventures, operated by Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited, located in Bidadi in the Ramanagara district on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The KSPCB, in its directive, instructed the Managing Director of Bescom to issue necessary orders to the relevant executive engineers to disconnect the power supply until further notice.

The directive also mentioned closure instructions under Section 31 (A) of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, in conjunction with Rule 20 (A) of the Karnataka Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1983.

The KSPCB stated that it issued orders due to non-compliance with the provisions of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act by Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited (Jolly Wood Studios and Adventures).
