Bengaluru, July 16 (NationPress) Senior BJP MLA and former Minister Byrathi Basavaraj has been implicated in a murder investigation related to the death of a rowdy sheeter. The Bharatinagar police in Bengaluru have filed an FIR naming him as the fifth accused in this serious matter.

The complaint originated from Vijayalaxmi, the mother of the deceased rowdy sheeter, Shivaprakash alias Biklu Shiva, who was brutally attacked and killed outside his residence on Tuesday night.

As of now, MLA Byrathi Basavaraj has yet to make a public statement regarding the allegations.

According to police reports, Shivaprakash had previously complained about Byrathi Basavaraj, asserting that the MLA's associates had threatened him over a land dispute. He accused them of coercing him to revoke the GPA (General Power of Attorney) and surrender the property in question.

Shivaprakash reportedly presented video evidence of these threats while filing his complaint.

The FIR has been lodged under Sections 103 and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Byrathi Basavaraj and several others. Other suspects listed in the FIR include Jagadish (34), Kiran (33), Vimal (36), and Anil (34). Authorities mentioned that additional individuals may be implicated as the investigation unfolds.

Shivaprakash, a Bharatinagar resident, was engaged in the real estate sector. The FIR states that he had acquired a plot in Kitaknur and granted himself a GPA. He had also hired two female security guards to protect the property. However, on February 11, Jagadish, an associate of MLA Byrathi Basavaraj, allegedly encroached on the land and removed the security personnel by force.

Jagadish purportedly contacted Shivaprakash and issued life threats, claiming ownership of the area and demanding that Shivaprakash relinquish the property. The victim reportedly faced ongoing threats regarding the land.

Vijayalaxmi revealed that her son had approached the police multiple times, voicing his fears for his safety and naming Jagadish along with MLA Byrathi Basavaraj in his complaints.

She further recounted that around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Shivaprakash left his home only to be ambushed by a group of 8 to 9 attackers wielding swords and other weapons. His friend, Imran Khan, who attempted to assist, was also assaulted. Witnesses reported that the attackers fled in a white vehicle as the crowd began to gather.
