Guwahati, July 16 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has launched a fierce critique of Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, asserting that the Chief Minister's alleged corruption will ultimately lead to his imprisonment.
During a gathering of party members in Chaygaon, located roughly 40 km from Guwahati, Rahul Gandhi remarked that Sarma acts like a monarch but is “overwhelmed by fear” and will face consequences for his actions.
“The Chief Minister perceives himself as royalty, tirelessly working to transfer Assam's resources to the wealthy,” he charged.
“Yet, observe closely - his demeanor on television reflects anxiety. He is aware that Congress supporters will hold him accountable,” he added.
Furthermore, Rahul Gandhi claimed that both Sarma and his family would face exposure for their purported corruption.
“Even Narendra Modi and Amit Shah won't be able to shield him. The citizens of Assam - including youths, farmers, workers, and people from various communities - will demand accountability,” he stated.
He also accused the BJP and the Election Commission of India of conspiring to manipulate election results, especially in Maharashtra and Bihar.
According to him, the Maharashtra Assembly elections were “stolen” from Congress and its allies by incorporating more than one crore voters favoring the BJP into the rolls shortly after the Lok Sabha elections.
“In Bihar, as well, names of impoverished individuals, laborers, and supporters of Congress and RJD are being removed under the pretext of a special electoral roll revision. They will attempt similar tactics in Assam,” Rahul Gandhi cautioned, urging party activists to stay alert.
He also criticized the media for allegedly siding with the government.
“The media no longer reports the truth. Nonetheless, this strategy will fail. People are aware of the reality, and Congress is poised to dominate the upcoming Assembly elections in Assam,” he declared.
He congratulated Gaurav Gogoi, the new Assam Congress president, expressing confidence that the party's revitalized efforts will yield favorable results soon.
Additionally, Rahul Gandhi alleged that land acquisition for corporate interests extends beyond Assam.
“Across the nation, from Maharashtra to various other states, thousands of acres are being allocated to industrialists, while small traders, farmers, and workers - the backbone of our society - are being marginalized,” he emphasized.
In closing, Rahul Gandhi stated that the nation is now divided into “two Hindustans” - one for billionaires leading lavish lives, and another for ordinary citizens struggling with rising costs and heavy taxes.
He framed the ongoing political battle as a clash of ideologies: the hatred and violence propagated by the RSS against the truth and non-violence upheld by Congress.
“Our party workers are the frontline soldiers in this fight,” Rahul Gandhi urged, encouraging them to promote the Congress message ahead of the critical state elections.
