Patna, July 16 (NationPress) The Janata Dal (United) has officially stated that it will not issue a ticket to Prahlad Yadav, the current MLA representing Suryagarha (Lakhisarai), for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections, putting an end to the political rumors surrounding his prospects.
Senior JD-U leader and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, addressed the media in Suryagarha, asserting: “Suryagarha is a seat for JD-U, and the party will nominate a candidate based on social dynamics. One thing is for sure, the influence of Lakhisarai will not secure a JD-U ticket under any circumstances.”
Although he didn’t mention Prahlad Yadav by name, Lalan Singh referred to him as “the Bahubali of Lakhisarai,” effectively signaling that the doors of JD-U are firmly shut for the legislator.
Prahlad Yadav, who was once regarded as the “King of Lakhisarai,” began his political career with Lalu Prasad Yadav and has been elected as MLA multiple times on the RJD ticket.
His wife has also held the position of District Council President.
His switch during the floor test on February 12, 2024, where he shifted allegiance from the opposition to support the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, left RJD leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav, in disbelief.
However, this decision has backfired, resulting in his isolation within both the JD-U and RJD, leaving him without political support in either camp.
Lalan Singh, a leading figure in JD-U with close ties to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, made it clear that Prahlad Yadav's candidacy will not be considered. The NDA alliance will not provide a platform for him.
Returning to the RJD seems unlikely for him, given the resentment and shock his defection triggered within the Lalu-Tejashwi faction.
What was perceived as a strategic maneuver to join the ruling NDA has now culminated in a political blunder for Prahlad Yadav.
His departure from Lalu Prasad Yadav could significantly impact his chances in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, as he had won the 2020 Bihar Assembly election on the RJD ticket from Suryagarha.
