Patna, Jan 18 (NationPress) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary asserted on Saturday that Lalu Prasad Yadav, the chief of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is gearing up to sell party tickets in anticipation of the Assembly elections.
"Lalu Prasad, what are your preparations for selling 243 seats for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections in 2025? How many interested parties have you secured for these tickets? Kindly inform the people of Bihar as well. You have recently been released from jail for health reasons; perhaps focusing on your health would have been more prudent," the Deputy Chief Minister remarked on X.
This pointed criticism of Lalu Prasad Yadav comes during the RJD's current National Executive Committee meeting, which is centered on developing strategies for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
The meeting, which took place at Hotel Maurya in Patna, was convened by Lalu Prasad Yadav, who, as the party's national president, is anticipated to share his "guru mantra" with RJD leaders and members, outlining how to tackle the approaching electoral contest.
Despite his advancing age and health issues, Lalu Prasad continues to be a significant player in Indian politics. His involvement in this critical meeting highlights his desire to actively influence the RJD's electoral strategy.
Previously, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD-U faced a significant setback when prominent JD-U leader and former minister Mangani Lal Mandal defected to the RJD.
Tejashwi Yadav welcomed Mandal into the party, alongside senior leaders such as former minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui and party MP Manoj Jha.
Mandal, who held the position of JD-U national vice president and is part of the EBC category, is expected to assist the RJD in strengthening its foothold among EBC voters in the upcoming elections.
He joined JD-U in 2019 during the Lok Sabha elections. Speculations suggest that Mandal may be appointed as the state RJD president, as the current incumbent Jagdanand Singh is reportedly disinclined to continue due to his age.
