Patna, March 24 (NationPress) The political confrontation in the Bihar Assembly intensified on Monday during the deliberation on the Viniyog Vidheyak (Appropriation Bill), with Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary making a pointed remark at Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, challenging him to recognize Lalu Prasad's visit to the RSS headquarters.
In a provocative comment, Choudhary proposed that Tejashwi Yadav pay a visit to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur, asserting that it might enhance his political prospects.
"My brother (Tejashwi Yadav) questioned my visit to the RSS headquarters. I want to remind him that his father, Lalu Prasad, also went there to collect a letter when he was about to become the Chief Minister for the first time. I challenge him to clarify this," Choudhary stated.
He further added, "Should you visit the RSS headquarters, your luck will brighten as well. There is a 'Yadav House' on the premises. The RSS and Jan Sangh were bolstered in Bihar by individuals from your community. Even Nand Kishore Yadav, the current Speaker of the Bihar Assembly, is one of them."
Choudhary also disclosed his previous association with Lalu Prasad, indicating that although he was once allied with him, their ideologies never aligned.
In response to the opposition's critique of Bihar's law and order, Choudhary assured the Assembly that criminals would face stringent measures.
His remarks were a reaction to Tejashwi Yadav's allegations of governmental ineffectiveness and his criticisms directed at the Deputy Chief Minister during the session.
Tejashwi Yadav accused Nitish Kumar and Samrat Choudhary of neglecting critical issues such as unemployment, crime, and corruption.
Mocking Choudhary, Yadav quipped, "Nitish Kumar compelled him to remove his 'muretha' (turban), but the bulb in his mind failed to light up."
"After he assumed responsibility, we assumed the light in his mind would turn on, but regrettably, it did not," Yadav remarked sarcastically.
Yadav also condemned Choudhary for his reference to 'Launda Dance' during the budget speech.
"Launda Dance is integral to Bihar's culture. These individuals insult Bhikhari Thakur, a venerated poet, and our heritage. They ridicule him and inject caste and religion into everything. I want to remind them -- criminals do not belong to any caste or religion," he stated.
The opposition leader also denounced the ruling party's personal attacks, particularly disparaging comments made about his sister, who donated a kidney to their father, Lalu Prasad.
Comparing state budgets across different administrations, Yadav contended that the RJD tenure (1989-2005) experienced an eightfold increase in the state budget.
"What major accomplishment is Nitish Kumar boasting about? I challenge them to showcase one significant achievement," Yadav asserted.
Citing Niti Aayog reports, he claimed, "Bihar remains the most impoverished state in the nation, with the highest unemployment rate and extensive migration. Crime and corruption are pervasive."
Yadav mocked the government regarding recent infrastructure failures, stating, "The speed at which the CM is bowing to BJP leaders matches the rate at which bridges are collapsing in Bihar."
He also targeted the liquor ban, sarcastically stating, "Forget humans; even rats are consuming liquor in Bihar."
Accusing the Bihar Police of lacking transparency, Yadav remarked, "They haven't even uploaded crime data for the past few years to evade exposure. Circle Officers are so unaccountable that they bypass District Magistrates and report directly to the Chief Minister's office."
Yadav vowed strict action if the RJD returns to power, declaring, "If our government is reinstated, these officers will not sit idle; they will stand and work without accepting bribes."
He also challenged the BJP to contest elections independently, asserting, "You should fight elections alone to gauge your real support base."
