Bihar Minister Dilip Jaiswal Critiques Lalu and Tejashwi's Claims Regarding Reservation Policies

Patna, Nov 30 (NationPress) Bihar Minister and state BJP President Dilip Jaiswal took aim at RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son, party leader Tejashwi Yadav, on Saturday, stating that their comments concerning the reservation issue are devoid of substance.
Jaiswal contended that the implementation of reservation policies in Bihar should be attributed to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, rather than the RJD leaders.
"Tejashwi Yadav frequently claims to have provided reservation benefits to the people of Bihar, but the reality is that he has contributed nothing. It was Nitish Kumar who put these reservations into action. I challenge Tejashwi Yadav to ask his father, Lalu Prasad, how much reservation was allocated during his time as Chief Minister," stated Jaiswal.
The debate over increasing the reservation percentage for Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes to 65 percent has become a hot topic in the winter session of the Bihar Assembly. Opposition figures, including Tejashwi Yadav, brought this issue to the forefront, sparking intense discussions.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also accused Tejashwi of making unfounded allegations, leading to a clash between the two leaders in the Assembly.
In response, Tejashwi Yadav pointed to Lalu Prasad's decision to boost reservation for marginalized communities from 12 percent to 14 percent during his tenure, asserting that Choudhary's statements were "baseless and politically motivated."
"Lalu Yadav's government was pioneering in increasing reservation benefits for backward classes from 12 percent to 14 percent. While Samrat Choudhary attributes the implementation of reservation in Panchayati Raj to Nitish Kumar, I want to clarify that the groundwork for this policy was established during Rabri Devi's administration. The policy encountered legal challenges but was ultimately enforced under Nitish Kumar's leadership," said Tejashwi.
Tejashwi accused Deputy Chief Minister Chaudhary of distorting facts to support a political agenda.
Furthermore, Tejashwi alleged that Samrat Chaudhary's recent ties with the BJP may be influencing his statements.
He remarked: "Samrat Chaudhary, previously a member of RJD, is contradicting established historical facts regarding the implementation of the Mandal Commission."
