Patna, May 2 (NationPress) A new political wave is making its presence felt in Bihar as Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition, introduced a comprehensive ‘Reservation Masterplan’ on social media last Friday.
This initiative, perceived as a strategic counter to the Centre’s announcement of a caste census, aims to transform the discourse surrounding social justice ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
In an extensive post on platform X, Tejashwi Yadav presented an ambitious blueprint designed to improve the representation and engagement of backward classes, extremely backward classes (EBCs), Dalits, and other marginalized groups across various sectors.
Important elements of the masterplan consist of the establishment of reserved constituencies for OBC/EBC communities; reservation in the private sector; quotas for government and private contracts; judicial reservation; full implementation of pending Mandal Commission recommendations; proportional reservation grounded in caste census data; and a call for special state status along with an economic package for Bihar.
Dubbing the proposal as “just the beginning,” Tejashwi declared that this plan would revolutionize Bihar’s political landscape and advance the longstanding struggle for social justice, which he attributed to the legacy of RJD and his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav.
He launched a pointed critique against the BJP and RSS, stating, “These Sanghis and BJP leaders who criticize us today have ultimately co-opted our agenda as their own masterstroke.”
Tejashwi accused the BJP of obstructing true social justice and engaging in diversionary tactics, asserting that the Centre’s caste census initiative stemmed from sustained socialist advocacy rather than any intrinsic intent from the BJP.
The announcement has elicited strong reactions from RJD supporters, while the BJP and its allies remain silent.
With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching, Tejashwi’s assertive stance on reservation and caste equity could compel the NDA to reevaluate its political strategy.
