New Delhi, Oct 29 (NationPress) Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, is set to kick off his election campaign in Bihar on Wednesday, marking the official start of his activities for the Bihar Assembly elections 2025.
He will be sharing the stage with Tejashwi Yadav, the chief ministerial face of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), at two joint rallies taking place in Sakra (Muzaffarpur) and Darbhanga.
According to Rajesh Rathore, the Chairman of Bihar Congress Media Department, this visit will be Gandhi’s first during the ongoing election campaign. He will initiate the day with a public address in Sakra, where he will rally support for Congress candidate Umesh Kumar Ram, the Mahagathbandhan's nominee for the Sakra (reserved) constituency. Subsequently, Gandhi and Tejashwi will conduct another rally in Darbhanga, amplifying their appeal for alliance candidates in the Mithilanchal region.
Party officials anticipate large crowds at the rallies, showcasing a display of unity between Congress and RJD ahead of these pivotal Bihar polls. This event marks the initial joint appearance of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav in this campaign phase, highlighting the opposition bloc’s commitment to presenting a consolidated front against the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP and JD(U).
Rathore reminded that prior to this campaign phase, Rahul Gandhi had dedicated 16 consecutive days in Bihar during his ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in August, traversing nearly 1,300 kilometres to engage with citizens across multiple districts.
In the meantime, the NDA has been critiquing Gandhi's absence from Bihar's campaign up to now, suggesting that Congress has fallen behind its allies in field operations.
On Saturday, Gandhi utilized social media to lambaste the central government for the inadequate train services during the festive period, underlining the challenges faced by migrant workers returning to Bihar for Chhath Puja.
