Bengaluru, June 19 (NationPress) The Congress party currently in power in Karnataka marked the birthday of the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, with great enthusiasm on Thursday in Bengaluru.
The celebration took place at the Central College Grounds in Bengaluru to honor LoP Rahul Gandhi. Organized under the guidance of senior party leader B.V. Srinivas, the event featured the unveiling of a portrait of LoP Rahul Gandhi crafted from 30,000 notebooks.
Additionally, battery-operated tricycles, wheelchairs, and laptops were provided to specially-abled athletes.
A registration camp for eye donations was also arranged by the Youth Congress, led by H.S. Manjunath, the President of Karnataka Youth Congress. This camp is scheduled for Thursday at 3 PM at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office located on Queen's Road, Bengaluru.
During the event at Central College Grounds, Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar emphasized, “Rahul Gandhi’s message is one of protection for every segment of society, and the importance of safeguarding our Constitution.”
“May God bless Rahul Gandhi, who is dedicated to the protection of our nation, with health and joy,” Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed while offering birthday greetings.
“We are here to celebrate the birthday of our leader, Rahul Gandhi. His sacrifices for the country are immense. This event is organized by our party members under the leadership of B.V. Srinivas, former president of the Indian Youth Congress, recognizing Rahul Gandhi's unwavering commitment to the nation,” Shivakumar noted.
“In honor of Rahul Gandhi's birthday, we had arranged a discussion on the caste census, but it has been postponed due to a cabinet meeting,” Shivakumar added while conveying his best wishes.
Regarding Indian students returning from Israel, he stated, “Our focus is on ensuring the safe return of our students. We won’t elaborate on international political matters.”
When asked if the caste census would be on the agenda for today’s cabinet meeting, he replied, “We have previously deliberated this issue in the cabinet and will continue to discuss its framework.”
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed on X, “I take immense pride in referring to Shri Rahul Gandhi as my leader — a person of ideological integrity, compassion for the populace, steadfast honesty, a clear vision for India’s future, remarkable bravery, and boundless affection.”
