Can the Entire System Be Judged by a Single Incident? K'taka HM Responds to HD Kumaraswamy on Ballari Shootout
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Jan 6 (NationPress) In response to comments made by Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy regarding the management of the situation in Karnataka following the Ballari shootout, state Home Minister G. Parameshwara emphasized that no system should be evaluated based on a single event.
While addressing the media in Bengaluru, Parameshwara highlighted that he is currently serving as the state Home Minister for the third time and possesses comprehensive knowledge regarding the appropriate timing and nature of decisions required.
With 38 years of political experience and having held various roles within the party and government, Parameshwara expressed confidence in his capacity to implement necessary measures to uphold law and order across the state, noting that decisive actions have already been undertaken.
He acknowledged that H.D. Kumaraswamy, as a Union Minister, has access to information from all over the country and is well-informed about developments in each state. However, he reiterated that it is unjust to judge the entire system based on one incident.
According to the Home Minister, the Police Department is responsible for making its own decisions to maintain public order, and the government provides essential directions during such incidents to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
In response to the Ballari incident, he urged individuals to fully comprehend an issue before making statements, warning that irresponsible comments could lead to broader ramifications. Parameshwara stressed that political figures, including himself, must be aware of the social implications of their words.
He noted that medical professionals have confirmed that no second post-mortem examination was performed on the individual involved in the incident. He questioned the validity of claims made by leaders suggesting otherwise and inquired who should be trusted regarding the facts.
Parameshwara stated that he accepts the doctors' clarification that only one post-mortem was conducted.
Kumaraswamy had launched a fierce criticism against Parameshwara following a series of violent occurrences in the state, alleging that the post-mortem of the Congress worker was conducted twice to implicate BJP MLA Janardhana Reddy in the Ballari violence.
Additionally, Parameshwara congratulated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for matching the tenure record of former Chief Minister late D. Devaraj Urs, having served 2,792 days in office.
He also commended Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, K.C. Venugopal, and Randeep Singh Surjewala for facilitating Siddaramaiah's achievement of this milestone.
According to him, such opportunities can only be realized within the Congress party, as seen in the past with Devaraj Urs and now with Siddaramaiah.
These developments, he asserted, are a testament to the Congress party's vision, commitment, and ideology centered around the welfare and progress of the underprivileged.
