Kalaburagi, Nov 25 (NationPress) A tragic road accident claimed the lives of three individuals, including a prominent IAS officer, in the Kalaburagi district of Karnataka on Tuesday, according to police reports.
The deceased have been identified as Mahantesh Bilagi, the Managing Director of Karnataka State Minerals Corporation, his brother Shankara Bilagi, and their relative Iranna Shirasangi.
The accident unfolded when the driver attempted to avoid a stray dog, resulting in a loss of control over the vehicle.
The Innova car carrying the victims veered off course after the driver lost control, leading to the unfortunate deaths of all three.
This incident occurred at Gownalli Cross in Jewargi taluk of Kalaburagi district.
Bilagi was en route from Vijayapura to Kalaburagi for a wedding ceremony.
51-year-old Mahantesh Bilagi later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while his brother Shankara and relative Iranna perished at the scene.

Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed his sorrow over the tragedy, stating, "The loss of senior IAS officer Mahantesh Bilagi, Managing Director of Karnataka State Mineral Corporation, in this car accident is profoundly distressing."
Shivakumar added, "He had previously served as MD of Bescom and held numerous positions throughout Karnataka, including Davangere and Udupi. His passing represents an irreparable loss to society, as he was renowned for his effective and community-focused work. State Minister for Large and Medium Industries, M.B.
