KTR Accuses Telangana Congress of Political Diversion in Formula E Case
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 24 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), expressed strong criticism towards the Congress-led government in Telangana, accusing it of engaging in diversionary tactics aimed at misleading the public through the recent charge sheet related to the Formula E race case.
KTR claimed that this move serves to distract from the BRS's push for legal recognition of the "Six Guarantees" via a Private Member Bill in the Assembly.
During a casual interaction with journalists, he remarked that the government found itself in a difficult position after the BRS revealed that the first document signed by the Chief Minister was unaccounted for.
His remarks came in response to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) filing a charge sheet in a Hyderabad court on Monday.
KTR has reportedly been identified as the primary accused in a case involving alleged mishandling of public funds tied to the Formula E race held in Hyderabad during the BRS administration.
He dismissed the charges as entirely unfounded and devoid of merit, noting that the government itself acknowledged in its charge sheet that no wrongdoing occurred.
“The Rs 45 crore transferred from a bank in Telangana is intact in the designated account. Not a single rupee has been misappropriated,” he emphasized.
KTR conveyed his belief that the Formula E case would ultimately lack legal support in court and characterized the government's actions as politically motivated harassment against him and his associates.
He accused the government of distorting facts and misleading the populace. “They are inflating the Rs 45 crore figure to Rs 600–700 crore to sow confusion. The citizens of Telangana will not fall for such deceitful narratives,” he asserted.
KTR also questioned the absence of any named beneficiary in the charge sheet, suggesting that the government could recover the funds if necessary since they remain secure in the organization's account.
Defending the Formula E event, KTR argued that it was introduced to elevate Hyderabad's global profile and to draw significant investments into the electric vehicle industry.
He highlighted that the event generated an estimated Rs 700 crore in economic advantages within a week, as reported by Nielsen.
KTR condemned the Congress government for squandering resources and acting selectively. He alleged that Rs 100 crore was expended on a football match for the Chief Minister’s personal interests, and Rs 10 crore was misappropriated from Singareni, yet no inquiries were initiated.
Furthermore, he criticized the government regarding controversies linked to beauty pageants, stating that they have not benefitted Telangana and have tarnished the state’s reputation following allegations made by Miss UK.
“Despite these serious accusations, not a single Congress leader has faced accountability,” he concluded.
