Bengaluru, April 1 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, has vehemently condemned the Karnataka government, labeling it a "Price-Demon" that is depleting the resources of the public, even exceeding the historical figures of Mahmud of Ghazni and Muhammad Ghori.
In a recent press release, Minister Kumaraswamy accused the Karnataka administration of levying a cess on garbage starting April 1, which further burdens the average citizen.
Kumaraswamy asserted that the state government is enforcing a harsh tax system on Kannadigas, making historical conquerors like Mahmud of Ghazni and Muhammad Ghori appear gentle by comparison.
“The government is siphoning the lifeblood of the citizens in the state! It has even instituted a cess on garbage,” the Union Minister voiced his indignation.
“Every day brings a new lie from the government and price increases each month. This is the operational style of the Karnataka East India Congress Company Government! As of today, the Congress Company Government has begun to impose cess on garbage,” he criticized.
The administration is utilizing the five guarantees as a pretext for these price escalations, but its true aim is nothing more than plundering the populace, he stated.
He additionally charged the government with ruining the once-flourishing Karnataka through mismanagement, referring to it as a "Price-Demon Congress Government" that is draining the public dry.
Kumaraswamy enumerated the various price hikes, which include increases in water tariffs, metro fares, KSRTC bus tickets, milk prices, electricity charges, stamp duty, guidance value, excise duty, outpatient consultation fees in government hospitals, post-mortem examination fees, professional tax, and even the price of seeds for farmers.
“As if this weren't sufficient, starting April 1, the government has also instituted a Garbage Cess,” he remarked, accusing the administration of orchestrating a colossal scam under the guise of waste management.
The increased costs for milk, curd, electricity, and the garbage cess took effect statewide on Tuesday.
The prices for milk and curd have risen by Rs 4 per litre, while the electricity tariff has gone up by 36 paise per unit.
The BJP has announced a series of protests and demonstrations against the price hikes throughout the state this week.
