Is There Really a Split in the RLM? Upendra Kushwaha Responds
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Dec 26 (NationPress) In light of ongoing reports regarding internal unrest within the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) after the recent Bihar Assembly elections, party chief and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha firmly rejected any notion of a division within the party on Friday.
While addressing reporters in Rohtas district, Kushwaha dismissed rumors of discord and denied allegations of a rift within the RLM.
In a strong rebuttal to inquiries about a potential split, he stated that there was absolutely no prospect of division and accused certain media outlets of fabricating unfounded claims.
“You have just arrived and started asking such questions. You people don’t even have valid questions. What kind of question is this?” Kushwaha expressed.
He emphasized that any legitimate issues within the party would be resolved appropriately.
Interestingly, just two days prior, when asked about the absence of three RLM MLAs at a Litti Chokha event organized by the party in Patna, Kushwaha had brushed off the concern, indicating it was not a topic worth discussing.
He reiterated that speculation regarding a split or dissatisfaction among MLAs was both unnecessary and misleading.
Kushwaha's remarks came during an engagement with local residents at the Sasaram council, marking his initial interaction with the media since the emergence of dissent reports.
It should be noted that rumors about discontent among three RLM MLAs have been circulating for several days.
Additionally, dozens of party members have resigned in recent weeks, further igniting speculation about a possible division within the party.
Political analysts suggest that the reported dissatisfaction stems from Kushwaha’s wife, Snehlata, receiving a ticket from the Sasaram Assembly constituency, which she subsequently won.
The unrest reportedly intensified after his son, Deepak Prakash, was appointed as a minister, leading to a wave of resignations within the party.
In a bid to showcase unity, Kushwaha hosted a Litti Chokha feast in Patna.
However, three of the party's four MLAs did not attend the gathering. Besides Snehlata, the absent MLAs included Rameshwar Mahto, Alok Kumar, and Madhav Anand.
These leaders were later seen sharing a platform with BJP leader Nitin Nabin, adding fuel to the fire of speculation regarding potential political realignments.
As reports of growing ties between dissatisfied RLM leaders and the BJP surface, the resignation trend within the Rashtriya Lok Morcha continues, despite Upendra Kushwaha's insistence on the party's unity.
