Patna, Sep 23 (NationPress) In the lead-up to the Bihar Assembly elections, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha has dismissed the importance of the upcoming Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting set for Wednesday in Patna, claiming it will have "no impact" on the ruling NDA.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Kushwaha stated, "With the Bihar Assembly election just weeks away, it’s evident why Congress leaders from Delhi are visiting Bihar. Post-election, their presence will diminish here. Their attendance won’t influence the NDA. We are confident of winning the Bihar Assembly election with a significant majority and will establish the government once more."
He further criticized the Grand Alliance formed by the RJD and Congress, labeling it a collaboration driven by self-interest.
"The alliance between RJD and Congress is rooted in selfish objectives. It won’t gain traction in Bihar. Tejashwi Yadav has proclaimed himself a chief ministerial candidate, while Congress claims the CM will be determined post-election. This highlights their internal discord," he remarked.
The CWC meeting, scheduled to take place at Sadaqat Ashram in Patna, will see the participation of prominent Congress figures such as Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and over 170 members of the party’s significant decision-making body.
Kushwaha also weighed in on ongoing seat-sharing talks within the NDA, especially after Union Minister Chirag Paswan expressed hopes for a respectable seat allocation for his party, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
"We cannot misinterpret his statement. Seat-sharing discussions are in progress within the NDA, and all is well. The formula will be finalized shortly," Kushwaha reassured.
Previously, Chirag Paswan's brother-in-law Arun Bharti mentioned that a range of 43 to 137 seats would be acceptable for the LJP, referencing the party's seat count in earlier elections.
In response to accusations of corruption against NDA leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Ashok Choudhary, and Mangal Pandey, Kushwaha opted for a non-defensive stance.
"Those under scrutiny should be questioned. They are in a better position to address the allegations," he stated.
These comments come as political dynamics in Bihar heat up ahead of the election timetable, with the Election Commission expected to announce voting dates by the end of September.
