Officers are also looking into whether the registered owner was behind the wheel during the offense. Further actions will be determined based on the investigation's results.
An 11-second clip of the event has become a viral sensation on social media, depicting the car drifting at the junction while onlookers applaud before it accelerates away.
In a related incident, it is worth mentioning that a 15-year-old son of a Karnataka BJP leader tragically lost his life in an accident in Hubballi on Thursday while attempting to film a social media video.
The footage featured an Audi Q7 and an Ola electric scooter racing towards each other at high speeds, only to swerve at the last second.
The deceased, identified as Nameesh Sangalad, was the son of Veerabhadrappa Sangalad, a politician from the Hubballi-Dharwad area. Nameesh was riding a newly registered electric bike during the filming with friends when the accident occurred.
The Audi Q7, manufactured in 2013 and originally registered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was reportedly driven by another minor.
According to police statements, Nameesh, a Class 9 student from Mysuru, had visited Hubballi to celebrate Ugadi on March 19. He and his friends ventured out to film a social media reel on the outskirts of Hubballi when the tragedy struck.
The collision reportedly happened between 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. in the Shejawadkar Layout area, Unkal region of Hubballi.
Allegedly, the minor was operating the Audi Q7 in a reckless, zig-zag manner for the video when it collided with Nameesh's electric bike, which was approaching from the opposite direction.
