Bengaluru, Feb 12 (NationPress) - In a disturbing turn of events, the driver of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) has been charged with attempted murder after a road rage incident where a man clung to the bonnet of the vehicle in Bengaluru. The police have initiated legal proceedings against the driver under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The victim, identified as Nanjunda, a 36-year-old driver and flower vendor from Tyagarajanagar, was on his way home after buying flowers in Hosakote on Wednesday. He was accompanied by his sister's son, Manoj K., who was driving the vehicle while Nanjunda occupied the passenger seat.

After passing Trinity Junction and signaling to turn towards General K.S. Thimmaiah Circle, they encountered a car behind them that continuously honked. Nanjunda claimed they requested the driver to stop honking and informed him of their upcoming turn.

However, the driver allegedly responded with abusive language and moved his vehicle to the left, overtaking them. The confrontation escalated at the CB Road signal on HAL Airport Road, where Nanjunda got out to confront the driver about his behavior.

In a panic, as the driver attempted to flee, Nanjunda jumped onto the bonnet, clinging to the windshield wipers while pleading for him to stop. Despite his cries, the driver sped off towards ASC Centre College, with Nanjunda still on the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses shouted at the driver to halt, but he only stopped when other vehicles, including cabs, obstructed his path near ASC Centre College. After a public outcry, the driver, later identified as Suresh, was confronted and detained.

Based on the victim's complaint, the Halasuru Police have filed charges against Suresh under Sections 109(1) (attempt to murder) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation is ongoing.
